Ocean Waves Shawl

I was asked to donate some of my hand knit items to our local "Art Against AIDS" fund raiser, so I created an original lace pattern, designed a shawl to showcase the lace, and then donated the model pictured here to their sale.

The shawl is worked from the neck down with both row-by-row instructions and a detailed chart.

In addition, the pattern includes instructions for making a flip-book for the lace pattern. Cards printed on card-stock can be cut out, hole-punched, and assembled with ring clasps. Each card has the instructions for a pair of right-side and wrong-side rows, and when each one has been completed, you just flip the page over. It's my best tip for lace knitting without losing your place in the pattern, even when you put your knitting down for some time.

The pattern calls for five skeins of Koigu (each are 175 yards), but I used just about every inch of those skeins in each of the three models knit, so I recommend buying an extra skein (or having one held for you in the same dye-lot) just in case in knit even a tiny bit looser than the test knitters.

Your own shawl picture could be here. Just send me an email with a digital picture and as much identifying information as you would like posted (hopefully at least the yarn used).
