Three Point Poncho

The Three Point Poncho has three, rather than four, increase points, creating a triangular poncho. Using three increase points results in a poncho that will drape better around the shoulders and upper body, with less fabric to fold and bunch up, which ultimately takes less knitting and less time.

My inspiration for designing this poncho was to take advantage of the fact that a poncho looks good on women with many different types of figures, but I have to admit that I had the ample knitter in mind. The deep shaping on the points are slenderizing when the point is worn in front; women who are a little less zoftig may find it more flattering to wear the point in the back, with the flat edge in front and points draping off on either side. See the gallery below to see the two different styles for wearing the Three Point Poncho.

The pattern includes six different variations: shorter and longer versions in sport weight, worsted weight, and chunky weight yarns. Each row is written out explicitly, so you can check off the rows as you go rather than keeping track of which row within a repeat is the current row. The pattern is eight pages long, is printed on card stock, and comes in a protective sleeve.

Wanda knit her poncho using some bright, variegated alpaca from her stash.

Wanda's poncho is just as gorgeous from the back.
Your own poncho picture could be here. Just send me an email with a digital picture and as much identifying information as you would like posted (hopefully at least the yarn used).
